Artwork Size: 12×12, Medium: Oil, Location Depicted in Artwork: AR & OK, Artist Statement: During the 1930’s, treasure hunters purchased the rights to dig at the Spiro Mounds in Oklahoma and found many amazing ancient artifacts. Among them were beautifully crafted examples of pottery, created by the native Caddo people, some pieces dating to 800 A.D. I wanted to honor the Caddo people by painting these two pieces from the collection of the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville, Arkansas.
