Reviews of Saturday Brush-Up Sessions

“I participated in an art critique session with Todd Williams, President of Heart of America Artists. During our session, I was given a wealth of invaluable insight that will help me improve my skills and take my work to new levels. Among the many things Todd brought to my attention in critiquing three paintings, he reminded me that before beginning a painting, I must have a vision of the finished work, consider the composition, and remember the scientific principles involved in creating a piece of art. Thank you, Todd, for giving so generously of your time and expertise to help me to develop as an artist. I love your quote reminding us that ‘there is never a better time than now to be an artist.’ I look forward to future events offered by Heart of America Artists, and am excited about the growth of this organization.”

“I participated in an art critique with two other artists, led by Todd Williams. I found this critique to be informative, engaging, educational and very beneficial. We took turns by placing our paintings on an easel, then having each artist give input on what was good and what could be done to improve the piece. Todd then gave his advice. He did a great job of explaining what was effective and what wasn’t and what you could do to make it a more appealing work of art. He backed it up with his knowledge and experience from being a successful fine artist himself. Todd has an excellent way of explaining the elements and principles of art and how to apply them to enhance a painting. Again, I very much appreciated and benefited from this experience and would highly recommend it to other artists who wish to learn and improve.”

“What a great way to spend several hours. Thank you, HOAA for these mentoring sessions. As they say ‘a rising tide lifts all boats.’ Todd Williams, I appreciate the analysis of mine and other artist’s works. It was helpful to see other’s paintings and learn from them too. You commented on your impression of what my goal was, interpreted the composition, color scheme, and technique. Your suggestions for a few changes was the perspective i needed. I went home and did them right away. And yes, all better paintings. And I really appreciated the advice you gave regarding getting into a gallery. I am working on two more paintings today. All of us can hardly wait till the next session. Priceless advice from a generous, thoughtful professional artist.”
