Artwork Size: 24×12, Medium: Oil on Linen Panel, Location Depicted in Artwork: AR & OK, Artist Statement: In the early days of the Arkansas Territory wild turkeys were a plentiful, and easily bagged, food source for both Native Americans and incoming settlers. Wild turkeys were headed for extinction by the early 1900’s. New hunting regulations and re-population efforts by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, provided for a once-again flourishing wild turkey population in this region. ?
